Welcome,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for visiting our website.

Florida Task Force 2 began serving affected communities during times of disaster in 1991. Our team has responded to some of the most devastating events recognized throughout the world. Our deployments to national and international disasters include the events of September 11th, 2001 in New York and the 2010 Haiti Earthquake. Each disaster response has been unique in its own way and has served to further strengthen our team’s knowledge, efficacy and experience.

Florida Task Force 2 is comprised of approximately 27 participating agencies. The City of Miami Department of Fire-Rescue is the Sponsoring Agency responsible for all command, control and administrative support functions. Our team is comprised of 210 members that are broken down into the following disciplines:

  • Search Specialists
  • Rescue Specialists
  • Engineers
  • Canine Handlers
  • Hazardous Materials Specialists
  • Communication Specialists
  • Logistics Specialists
  • Flood and Swiftwater Specialists

Thousands of hours of training through specialized courses help prepare each and every team member to provide disaster aid in the most efficient, safest way possible. On a normal day, these highly trained individuals are career teachers, nurses, physicians, fire-fighters, engineers, etc. If you live in South Florida, you may have interacted with one our members without knowing it. South Floridians are very fortunate to have such a professional group of citizens living and working in their own backyards.

Our orders to respond are initiated when activated by the President of the United States. With only 3 1/2 hours notice, our Task Force will be on its way with 80 of it’s highly trained members and thousands of dollars worth of specialized tools and equipment to any community in need.

It is an honor and privilege to work with such highly motivated, experienced and exceptional individuals. This is what makes our team one of the best in the nation. Our commitment to service stands strong as we continue to train and prepare for any future disasters that may threaten our communities.  We welcome you to continue visiting our website for the most current information on our events.

Thank you,

Joseph Zahralban, Program Manager
